۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 But the bondmen of Allah, the sincere ones 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 On couches facing one another; 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 He will say: -- Do you wish to know where he is now?' 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 Verily this is the supreme achievement! 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of AzZakkum! 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 So had many an earlier people gone astray, 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
