۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet' 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.' 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 Not so the chosen servants of God. 74
