And Noah had certainly called Us, and [We are] the best of responders. 75 And We rescued him and his household from the great calamity. 76 and We made his offspring the survivors. 77 And We perpetuated to him (praise) among the later generations. 78 Peace and salutation to Nuh among the nations. 79 Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 80 Lo! he is one of Our believing slaves. 81 Then We drowned the other (disbelievers and polytheists, etc.). 82 ۞ Of his party was Abraham. 83 Recall what time he came unto his Lord with a heart whole. 84 and when he said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship? 85 Would you serve false deities instead of God? 86 What do you think about the Lord of the Universe?" 87 Then he looked at the stars, looking up once, 88 And said: "I am sick (of what you worship)!" 89 So they turned away from him, and departed. 90 Thereupon he approached their gods stealthily and said, "What! You do not eat [of the offerings placed before you]? 91 What aileth ye that ye speak not? 92 then he turned on them, striking them down with his right hand. 93 Thereafter they (the people) came to him in haste. 94 He said: 'Do you worship what you, yourselves have carved 95 even though God created both you and that which you have made?" 96 They said: Build for him a furnace, then cast him into the burning fire. 97 So they tried to execute their evil scheme upon him – We therefore degraded them. (Allah saved him, by commanding the fire to turn cool). 98 And he said (after his rescue from the fire): "Verily, I am going to my Lord. He will guide me!" 99 Lord, grant me a righteous son." 100 So We gave him the good news of a boy, possessing forbearance. 101 When his son was old enough to work with him, he said, "My son, I have had a dream that I must sacrifice you. What do you think of this?" He replied, "Father, fulfill whatever you are commanded to do and you will find me patient, by the will of God". 102 Then when the twain had submitted themselves and he had prostrated him upon his temple. 103 We called unto him: O Abraham! 104 Of a surety thou hast fulfilled the vision. Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers. 105 This was indeed a plain trial. 106 And We rescued him in exchange of a great sacrifice. (The sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail – peace be upon them – is commemorated every year on 10, 11 and 12 Zil Haj). 107 And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations: 108 "Peace be upon Abraham!" 109 Thus indeed do We reward those who do right. 110 he was among Our believing servants. 111 We gave Abraham the good news of Isaac, a prophet and a righteous man, 112 And We sent blessings upon him and Ishaq; and among their descendants – some who do good deeds, and some who clearly wrong themselves. 113
