And indeed Yunus is one of the Noble Messengers. 139 When he fled on the laden ship, 140 and cast lots, and was of the rebutted, 141 Then a fish swallowed him, and he was blameworthy. 142 Had it not been that he (repented and) glorified Allah, 143 He would have tarried in its belly till the day when they are raised; 144 ۞ But We threw him on a wide bare tract of land while he was ill; 145 And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand or more people. 147 And they came to believe; so We allowed them to enjoy the good things of life for an age. 148 (Muhammad), ask them, "Do daughters belong to your Lord and sons to them? 149 Or did We make the angels females, and they witnessed it? 150 Now surely it is of their own lie that they say: 151 “Allah has begotten.” They are liars! 152 "He has chosen daughters in preference to sons"! 153 What ails you that you judge in such a wise? 154 Then will you not be reminded? 155 Do you have any clear authority for such claims? 156 Bring your Book, if you are truthful. 157 And some people have invented a kinship between Him and all manner of invisible forces although [even] these invisible forces know well that, verily, they [who thus blaspheme against God] shall indeed be arraigned [before Him on Judgment Day: for] 158 God is too glorious for what they ascribe to Him 159 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 160 Lo! verily, ye and that which ye worship, 161 you shall tempt none against Him 162 Except the one who will go into the blazing fire. 163 And the angels say, “Each one of us has an appointed known position.” 164 we are those who stand ranged in ranks. 165 and we glorify God". 166 AND, INDEED, they [who deny the truth] have always been wont to say, 167 If we had but a reminder from the men of old 168 "We should certainly have been Servants of Allah, sincere (and devoted)!" 169 But (now) they disbelieve in it, so they will come to know. 170 Our word had already been given before to Our votaries, the apostles, -- 171 that they shall certainly be succoured, 172 and that Our army will be triumphant. 173 So turn (away) from them for a while. 174 And watch them, for they will soon see. 175 Do they really wish to hasten Our punishment? 176 Then when it descendeth unto them face to face, a hapless morn that shall be for those who were warned. 177 Stay away from them for a while 178 And see thou: they themselves shall presently see. 179 Purity is to your Lord, the Lord of Honour, from all what they say. 180 and peace be upon the Messengers, 181 And Praise to Allah, the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds. 182
