S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Saad, by the Holy Reading (Koran) of the Remembrance. 1 Those who deny the truth are steeped in arrogance and hostility. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed before their time [for this very sin]! And [how] they called [unto Us] when it was too late to escape! 3 They are surprised that a warner should come to them from among themselves. They say, "This is a magician, a great liar. 4 "Has he made the gods (all) into one Allah? Truly this is a wonderful thing!" 5 And their leading chiefs said: "Remain attached to your gods. There is surely some motive behind it. 6 Never did we hear of [a claim like] this in any faith of latter days! It is nothing but [a mortal man's] invention! 7 What! Upon him alone from among all of us should a [divine] reminder have been bestowed from on high?" Nay, but it is My Own reminder that they distrust! Nay, they have not yet tasted the suffering which I do impose! 8 Do they possess the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or have they the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all between? If so, let them mount up with the ropes and means (to reach that end)! 10 [They are but] soldiers [who will be] defeated there among the companies [of disbelievers]. 11 Before them there have belied the people of Nuh and the 'Aad, and Fir'awn the owner of the stakes. 12 And the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the People of the Woods; these are the groups. 13 Of all these there was not one who did not deny the messengers. So My retribution was justified. 14
