Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 A revelation from [God], the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful -- 2 A Book, the verses of which are distinguished, an Arabic Koran for a nation who know. 3 A bearer of glad tidings and a warner. Yet most of them turn aside, so that they hearken not. 4 And they say: "Our hearts are under coverings (screened) from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen, so work you (on your way); verily, we are working (on our way)." 5 Say: "I am a man like you, (but) it is revealed to me that your God is one God, so take the straight path to Him, and ask Him to forgive your sins. Woe to the idolaters 6 [and] those who do not spend in charity: for it is they, they who [thus] deny the truth of the life to come! 7 But those who believe and do the right, will have a continuing reward. 8
