Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.] 1 A revelation from the most benevolent, ever-merciful, 2 A Book whereof the verses are detailed; an Arabic Qur'an, for a people who know. 3 It bears glad tidings and a warning, yet most of them turn away and do not listen. 4 And they say: Our hearts are protected from that unto which thou (O Muhammad) callest us, and in our ears there is a deafness, and between us and thee there is a veil. Act, then. Lo! we also shall be acting. 5 Say: "I am a man like you, (but) it is revealed to me that your God is one God, so take the straight path to Him, and ask Him to forgive your sins. Woe to the idolaters 6 who do not pay zakat and have no faith in the life to come. 7 "The ones who believe and perform good deeds shall have a reward which will never be withheld from them." 8
