Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha, Meem. 1 By the Scripture which maketh plain, 2 That We made it a distinctly lucid Qur'an that you may understand. 3 And surely it is in the original of the Book with Us, truly elevated, full of wisdom. 4 Should We withdraw the admonition from you because you are a people far gone in transgression? 5 We have sent many a prophet to earlier peoples 6 And whenever any Prophet came to them, they only mocked at him. 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 Yet, if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will answer: 'The Almighty, the Knower created them' 9 (Yea, the same that) has made for you the earth (like a carpet) spread out, and has made for you roads (and channels) therein, in order that ye may find guidance (on the way); 10 That sends down (from time to time) rain from the sky in due measure;- and We raise to life therewith a land that is dead; even so will ye be raised (from the dead);- 11 He who created pairs of everything, and fashioned for you boats and beasts on which you ride, 12 So that when you sit astride of them and think of the bounties of your Lord, you may say: "All glory to Him who subjugated these for us. We were incapable of doing so. 13 surely unto our Lord we are turning.' 14 And they assign to Him a part of His servants; man, to be sure, is clearly ungrateful. 15
