Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the clear Book, 2 behold, We have caused it to be a discourse in the Arabic tongue, so that you might encompass it with your reason. 3 And verily it is, in the Original Book before Us, indeed exalted. 4 Shall We then take away from you the admonition because ye are a people extravagant? 5 How many Messengers did We send to the ancient people? 6 And not a prophet came unto them but him they were wont to mock. 7 so We destroyed those who were mightier than these; such was the example of the earlier peoples. 8 Yet thus it is [with most people]: if thou ask them, "Who is it that has created the heavens and the earth?" - they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All-Knowing has created them." 9 The One Who made the earth a bed for you, and made roads for you in it, so that you may be guided. 10 And He Who sends down water from the cloud according to a measure, then We raise to life thereby a dead country, even thus shall you be brought forth; 11 That has created pairs in all things, and has made for you ships and cattle on which ye ride, 12 so that when you are mounted upon them you may remember the bounty of your Lord, and say: “Glory be to Him Who has subjected this to Us whereas we did not have the strength to subdue it. 13 And verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return! 14 And they allot to Him a portion of His bondmen! Lo! man is verily a mere ingrate. 15
