Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 I swear by the Book that makes things clear: 2 Surely We have made it an Arabic Quran that you may understand. 3 and behold, it is in the Essence of the Book, with Us; sublime indeed, wise. 4 Shall We then take away from you the admonition because ye are a people extravagant? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the earlier peoples! 6 And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him. 7 We therefore destroyed the people who were more forceful than these, and the example of the earlier ones has already gone by. 8 If thou askest them, 'Who created the heavens and earth?' they will say, 'The All-mighty, the All-knowing created them.' 9 He it is who has made the earth a cradle for you, and has provided for you ways [of livelihood] thereon, so that you might follow the right path. 10 And He Who sends down water from the cloud according to a measure, then We raise to life thereby a dead country, even thus shall you be brought forth; 11 It is He who has created everything in pairs and the ships and cattle for you to ride, 12 so that when you are mounted upon them you may remember the bounty of your Lord, and say: “Glory be to Him Who has subjected this to Us whereas we did not have the strength to subdue it. 13 Hence, verily, it is unto Him that we must always turn." 14 Yet they assign to Him some of His own (created) worshipers! Clearly, the human is unthankful. 15
