And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Quran and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitan (Satan - devil) to be a Qarin (an intimate companion) to him. 36 And indeed, the devils avert them from the way [of guidance] while they think that they are [rightly] guided 37 Until when he comes to Us, he says: O would that between me and you there were the distance of the East and the West; so evil is the associate! 38 (He will then be told): “Today it will not benefit you the least that after your wrong-doing you and your satans now share the chastisement.” 39 Canst thou then make the deaf to hear, or give direction to the blind or to such as (wander) in manifest error? 40 So if We take you away, We shall then indeed take revenge from them. 41 Or show you what We have promised them – We therefore have complete control over them. 42 So hold thou fast to the Revelation sent down to thee; verily thou art on a Straight Way. 43 The Quran is a reminder to you and to your people and you will soon be questioned about it. 44 And ask those of Our messengers whom We sent before thee: Did We ever appoint gods to be worshipped beside the Beneficent? 45
