۞ And when the example of the son of Maryam is given, your people laugh at it! 57 and say: 'What, are our gods better, or is he?' They do not mention him to you except to dispute, truly, they are a contentious nation. 58 He ['Iesa (Jesus)] was not more than a slave. We granted Our Favour to him, and We made him an example to the Children of Israel (i.e. his creation without a father). 59 And if We willed, We could have established angels on the earth instead of you. 60 And indeed Eisa is a sign* of the Last Day, therefore do not ever doubt in the Last Day, and obey Me**; this is the Straight Path. (* The advent of Prophet Eisa to earth for the second time. ** By obeying the Noble Messenger.) 61 Let not Satan hinder you (from believing in the Hour), for surely he is your open enemy. 62 And when (Prophet) Jesus came with clear signs, he said: 'I have come to you with wisdom and to clarify to you some of the matters about which you differ. Fear Allah and obey me. 63 “Allah is indeed my Lord, and yours – therefore worship Him; this is the Straight Path.” 64 But the factions differed among themselves. Woe alas to the sinners for the torment of the grievous Day! 65 What are they waiting for – except the Last Day, that it may suddenly come upon them while they are unaware? 66 The friends shall on that day be enemies one to another, except those who guard (against evil). 67
