۞ And when the son of Maryam (Mary) is quoted as an example [i.e. 'Iesa (Jesus) is worshipped like their idols), behold! Your people cry aloud (laugh out at the example). 57 saying, "Are our gods better or him?" -- they cite him only to challenge you: they are a contentious people -- 58 Jesus was a servant of Ours to whom We had granted favors and whom We made as an example for the Israelites. 59 If We pleased We could have put angels in place of you as trustees on the earth. 60 And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way. 61 Let not the Evil One hinder you: for he is to you an enemy avowed. 62 And when 'Iesa (Jesus) came with (Our) clear Proofs, he said: "I have come to you with Al-Hikmah (Prophethood), and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) in which you differ, therefore fear Allah and obey me, 63 "For Allah, He is my Lord and your Lord: so worship ye Him: this is a Straight Way." 64 But the factions differed among themselves. Woe alas to the sinners for the torment of the grievous Day! 65 Are they merely waiting for the Hour, which will come upon them suddenly and take them unawares? 66 Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous 67
