Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 By the clear Book, 2 that We sent down during a Blessed Night. We are ever warning. 3 In it every wise matter is determined 4 an order from Us. We are ever sending. 5 as a mercy (for the human being) from your Lord. Your Lord is All-hearing and All-knowing. 6 Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them, if you would be certain. 7 There is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and gives death,- The Lord and Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors. 8 But they are in doubt, amusing themselves. 9 So wait thou the day whereon the heaven will bring forth a manifest smoke: 10 That shall overtake men; this is a painful punishment. 11 O our Sustainer, relieve us of suffering, for, verily, we [now] believe [in Thee]!" 12 How is it possible for them to accept guidance, whereas a Noble Messenger who speaks clearly has already come to them? 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 Lo! We withdraw the torment a little. Lo! ye return (to disbelief). 15 The Day We will strike with the greatest assault, indeed, We will take retribution. 16 ۞ And We had already tried before them the people of Pharaoh, and there came to them a noble messenger, 17 "Deliver the creatures of God to me. I am the trusted messenger sent to you. 18 Do not think yourselves to be above God: I have come to you with clear authority. 19 I have sought refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you stone me [to death]. 20 "But if you believe me not, then keep away from me and leave me alone." 21 But then, [when they beset him with their enmity,] he called out to his Sustainer, "These are [indeed] people lost in sin!" 22 So depart thou with My bondmen by night; verily ye shall be pursued. 23 Leave the sea behind you parted; they are a host destined to be drowned." 24 They left - how many! of gardens and springs. 25 sown fields, and how noble a station, 26 and the life of ease in which they took delight! 27 We gave these as an inheritance to other people. 28 So the heavens and the earth did not weep for them, and they were not given respite. 29
