Thus did We deliver the Children of Israel from the humiliating chastisement, 30 They (had experienced) under the Pharaoh. He was certainly a tyrant, guilty of excess. 31 We gave preference to the Israelites over the other people with Our knowledge 32 And We vouchsafed unto them signs wherein was a manifest favour. 33 Indeed, these [disbelievers] are saying, 34 "That [which is ahead of us] is but our first [and only] death, and we shall not be raised to life again. 35 Bring back our fathers, if ye speak the truth! 36 Are they better than the people of Tubba, and those who had lived before them, whom We destroyed as they were sinners? 37 And We did not create the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, just for play. 38 We created them not save in truth; but most of them know it not. 39 Truly, the Day of Decision is the appointed time for all of them, 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 Except him on whom Allah has Mercy. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 42
