Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 then the bearers of weight (the clouds), 2 Then those (ships) that glide easily, 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 Verily, that which you are promised is true indeed, 5 and the Judgement shall doubtlessly take place. 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 From which only he turns who is turned away. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Who are under a cover of heedlessness (think not about the gravity of the Hereafter), 11 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 Taste your burning: this is that which ye sought to be hastened. 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 joyously receiving what their Lord will have granted them. Verily they did good works before (the coming of this Day): 16 they would lie asleep during but a small part of the night, 17 praying at dawn for God's pardon, 18 And in their property was a portion due to him who begs and to him who is denied (good). 19 In the earth are signs for those having sure faith; 20 And in yourselves. Then will you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and that which ye are promised. 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as surely true as that you have speech. 23
