Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the swift scatterers 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 and the smooth runners 3 and distributing the command of God at His behest! 4 Verily, that which you are promised is true indeed, 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 By the heaven full of paths. 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Accursed be the conjecturers 10 Who are in a gulf (of ignorance) neglectful; 11 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Doom?' 12 It will be on the day when they will be roasted in the fire. 13 And it will be said to them, “Taste your own roasting; this is what you were impatient for.” 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 taking whatsoever their Lord has given them; they were good-doers before that. 16 They used to sleep only a little during the night. 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived. 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 and also in your own selves. Do you not see? 21 And in heaven is your Sustenance, as (also) that which ye are promised. 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
