Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness those who scatter (dust) by dispersing, 1 And those [clouds] carrying a load [of water] 2 And those that flow with ease and gentleness; 3 and the partitioners, 4 indeed, that which you are promised is true, 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 And by oath of the decorated heaven. 7 Indeed, you are in differing speech. 8 From which only he turns who is turned away. 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. 11 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? 12 Upon the day when they shall be tried at the Fire: 13 "Taste you your trial (burning)! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!" 14 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and fountains. 15 Accepting the rewards given by their Lord; they were indeed virtuous before this. 16 Little of the night would they slumber, 17 and in the mornings they would ask for forgiveness; 18 And in their property was a portion due to him who begs and to him who is denied (good). 19 On the earth, and in yourselves, 20 And in your own souls (too); will you not then see? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth it is sure, even as it is a fact that ye are speaking. 23
