Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 And the ships that glide with ease. 3 and the partitioners, 4 Indeed, what you are promised is true. 5 and, verily, judgment is bound to come! 6 by the heaven full of tracks, 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 Those who are in heedlessness neglectful. 11 They ask, "When will the Day of Judgement come?" 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 Taste your burning: this is that which ye sought to be hastened. 14 As for the God-fearing, they shall be in the midst of gardens and fountains, 15 receiving their reward from their Lord. They had been righteous people before the Day of Judgment. 16 They slept little in the night, 17 And in the hours before dawn, they were (found) asking (Allah) for forgiveness, 18 And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share. 19 On the earth, and in yourselves, 20 and in your selves; what, do you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your sustenance and what you are threatened with. 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is certainly the truth. It is as true as your ability to speak. 23
