Has there reached you the story of the honored guests of Abraham? - 24 When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." 25 So he hurried to the house and brought a fatted calf, 26 and placed it before them. "Will you not eat?" he said, 27 So he conceived in his mind a fear on account of them. They said: Fear not. And they gave him the good news of a boy possessing knowledge. 28 Then his wife came forward with a loud voice, she smote her face, and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said, “This is how your Lord has decreed; indeed He only is the Wise, the All Knowing.” 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people 32 to bring down upon them showers of marked lumps of clayy. 33 which are marked by your Lord for the punishment of those guilty of excesses." 34 Then We brought forth such as were therein of the believers. 35 And We found not therein more than one house of the Muslims. 36 And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment. 37 And in Moosa, when We sent him with a clear proof towards Firaun. 38 But he turned away with his forces and said: A magician or a mad man. 39 So We took him and his forces, and threw them into the sea; and his was the blame. 40 And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind: 41 It left nothing whatever that it came up against, but reduced it to ruin and rottenness. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 They transgressed against the command of their Lord. So a blast of sound struck them and they were unable to do anything but stare. 44 they could not stand up again, nor could they defend themselves. 45 The people of Noah who lived before them were also evil doing people. 46
