The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 And the Book written 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 By the House Frequented. 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
