The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount 1 By the book inscribed. 2 in an exposed parchment 3 by the Visited House, 4 And the roof exalted, 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 such as play at plunging, 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. 19 reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!" And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
