So exhort (them, O Prophet), for by your Lord's Grace, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Or do they say: 'He is a poet, we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him' 30 Proclaim, “Go on waiting – I too am waiting along with you.” 31 Nay! do their understandings bid them this? Or are they an inordinate people? 32 Or say they: he hath fabricated it: aye they will not believe. 33 (If they are truthful in this), then let them produce a discourse of similar splendour. 34 Or were they created without there being anything, or are they the creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay! they have no certainty. 36 Or are the Treasures of thy Lord with them, or are they the managers (of affairs)? 37 Or have they a ladder, by which they can (climb up to heaven and) listen (to its secrets)? Then let (such a) listener of theirs produce a manifest proof. 38 Or does Allah have daughters whereas you have sons? 39 Or askest thou them for a wage, and so they are weighed down with debt? 40 Or that the Unseen in it their hands, and they write it down? 41 Or desire they to outwit? The unbelievers, they are the outwitted. 42 Do they have another god besides God? God is too exalted to be considered equal to the idols. 43 And if they should see a portion of the heaven coming down, they would say: Piled up clouds. 44 So leave them alone till they meet their Day, in which they will sink into a fainting (with horror). 45 The Day their plan will not avail them at all, nor will they be helped. 46 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment besides this: But most of them understand not. 47 And wait thou patiently the judgment of thy Lord; verily thou art before Our eyes; and hallow the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest. 48 and exalt Him in the night and at the declining of the stars. 49
