(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 and gives a little, grudgingly? 34 Does he [claim to] have knowledge of something that is beyond the reach of human perception, so that he can see [it clearly]? 35 Or, has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Musa? 36 and Abraham, who paid his debt in full? 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 and will be fully recompensed for his deeds. 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 And that it is He Who causeth to laugh and causeth to weep. 43 and that it is He who causes to die, and causes to live 44 And that He (Allah) creates the pairs, male and female, 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 and on Him depends the life hereafter. 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star); 49 that He it is Who destroyed the ancient 'Ad, 50 And Thamud - and He did not spare [them] - 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 so that there came upon them that which came. 54 So, which of your Lord's bounties will you doubt?” 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Approaching Day has approached. 57 None but God can avert it. 58 Are you astonished at this news, 59 Will you laugh at it rather than weep? 60 indulging in carelessly idle games? 61 So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him]. ۩ 62
