So did you observe him who turned away? 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Hath he not been told of that which is in the writs of Musa. 36 And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (what Allah ordered him to do or convey), 37 That no laden one shall bear another's load, 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 And that his striving shall soon be seen- 40 Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense 41 And that to your Lord is the goal- 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 and that He it is Who causes death and grants life, 44 and that it is He who creates the two kinds - the male and the female 45 from a discharged living germ 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 and that it is He alone who frees from want and causes to possess; 48 and that He is the Lord of (the star) Sirius, 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace of them, 51 And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing. 52 And the subverted cities He overthrew. 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 This is a warning just like those of former times. 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. 58 Do you then wonder at this announcement? 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 While you are proudly sporting? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
