The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not. 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
