The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
