The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 And said: "Should we follow only one man among us? In that case we shall be in error and insane." 24 Why - on him alone from among all of us should a [divine] reminder have been bestowed? Nay, but he is a boastful liar!" 25 It was said to Saleh, “They will soon realise tomorrow who is the mischievous great liar.” 26 Surely We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them; therefore watch them and have patience. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them; every share of the water shall be regulated. 28 Then they called their fellow, and he took the sword and hamstrung her, 29 How [terrible] were My punishment and My warnings! 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 32 LOT'S PEOPLE [too] gave the lie to all [Our] warnings: 33 We sent down upon them a violent sandstorm (which destroyed them all) except for the family of Lot, whom We saved in the early morning by Our favor. 34 as a blessing from Us: this is how We reward the thankful. 35 He had warned them of Our assault but they disputed the warnings. 36 And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 37 And there came upon them by morning an abiding punishment. 38 "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 39 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished. 40
