The people of Thamud rejected Our warnings. 23 For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness. 24 Has the [Divine] message been revealed to him alone of all of us? No, he is a boastful liar." 25 Ah! they will know on the morrow, which is the liar, the insolent one! 26 “We shall send a she-camel to test them, therefore O Saleh, wait and have patience.” 27 And tell them that the water is to be divided between them: Each one's right to drink being brought forward (by suitable turns). 28 But they called their companion who took hold of her and hamstrung her. 29 How was then My punishment of which they had been warned? 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 Indeed, We have made the Quran easy to learn lessons from. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 32 The nation of Lot belied Our warnings. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 through Our Mercy. So it is that We recompense the thankful. 35 And he indeed had warned them of Our blow, but they did doubt the warnings. 36 And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning." 37 And indeed, the everlasting punishment overcame them early in the morning. 38 "So taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 39 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance.
