The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man, 3 and He has taught him the Explanation. 4 The sun and moon revolve to a computation; 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 that you may not transgress in the balance, 8 but weigh things equitably and skimp not in the balance. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created man of clay like, unto pottery. 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 18 He let forth the two seas that meet together, 19 There is a barrier between them. They encroach not (one upon the other). 20 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 21 From these seas come forth pearls and coral. 22 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 25
