The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 has created man, 3 Taught him the mode of expression. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 And the herbs and the trees do prostrate (to Him). 6 And the heaven, He raised it high, and He made the balance 7 In order that you may not transgress (due) balance. 8 And establish the measures justly, nor decrease the due weight. 9 And the earth He has put for the creatures. 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 and grains with their husk and fragrant plants. 12 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 13 He has created man, from dry ringing clay, like the potter"s, 14 And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests: 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 There come forth from the twain the pearl and the coral. 22 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
