The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ AR-RAHMAN 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He created the human 3 He has taught him speech (and intelligence). 4 The sun and the moon move according to a fixed reckoning; 5 And the plants and the trees prostrate (for Him). 6 and heaven -- He raised it up, and set the Balance. 7 (Transgress not in the Balance, 8 weigh, therefore, [your deeds] with equity, and cut not the measure short! 9 And the earth! He hath lain it out for the creatures. 10 Wherein are fruit and sheathed palm-trees, 11 And grain covered with husk, and fragrant flowers. 12 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 [He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets. 17 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 18 He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together: 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 21 From the two oceans comes pearls and coral. 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 25
