The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He created the human being 3 [And] taught him eloquence. 4 The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation, 5 And the plants and the trees prostrate (for Him). 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 That ye should not trespass in respect of the balance. 8 And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 Therein is fruit and palms having sheathed clusters, 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 And created jinn from the flame of fire. 15 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 16 He is Lord of the two easts and Lord of the two wests. 17 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 23 And His are the ships reared aloft in the sea like mountains. 24 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 25
