The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
