The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and spreading shade 30 And water poured out 31 and abundant fruit, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
