The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and spreading shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
