The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and extended shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in plenty 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
