The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Who will be honoured 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And spreading shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
