The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And clustered plantains, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And have made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the right. 38
