The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and continuous shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virginal, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
