The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And extended shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit abundant. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virgins. 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
