The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and serried acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and raised couches 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
