The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 In shade long-extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the right. 38
