The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and shade extended, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
