A numerous company from among the first, 39 And a multitude from the later generations. 40 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 41 They will live amid the scorching, 42 in the shadow of a smoking blaze, 43 Neither cool nor agreeable. 44 For, behold, in times gone by they were wont to abandon themselves wholly to the pursuit of pleasures, 45 and persisted in the Great Sin, 46 and would say: "What! After we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 47 And also our forefathers?" 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all – the former and the latter.” 49 Are going to be assembled on the appointed time of a Day Known. 50 and then, verily, O you who have gone astray and called the truth a lie, 51 Will be eating from trees of zaqqum 52 "Then will ye fill your insides therewith, 53 And upon it, you will drink the hot boiling water. 54 drink it as the most insatiably thirsty camels drink!" 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Requital. 56 We! it is We Who created you: wherefore confess ye not? 57 Do ye then see?- The (human Seed) that ye throw out,- 58 Do you create a child out of it, or are We its creators? 59 We have decreed death to you all, and We are not unable, 60 From replacing you with others or raising you in a way you do not know. 61 And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect? 62 Have you considered the soil you till? 63 Is it you or We Who make them grow? 64 We could turn it, if We pleased, into straw; then you would rue the day, 65 Verily we are undone. 66 Indeed, we have been deprived of the fruits of our labour." 67 See ye the water which ye drink? 68 Did you send it down from the clouds, or did We send it? 69 If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful? 70 Tell Me! The fire which you kindle, 71 Produce ye the tree thereof, or are We the Producer? 72 We! it is We Who made it a reminder and a provision unto the campers. 73 So glorify the name of your Lord, the Supreme. 74
