Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
