Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Reality? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
