Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Surely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement. 1 He said: O my people! verily I am unto you a warner manifest. 2 Worship Allah, and fear Him, and obey me. 3 That He may forgive some of your sins and prolong your term till an appointed time. Surely when God's appointed time is come it will not be put off, if only you knew! 4 He said; 'My Lord, I have called my people by night and by day, 5 "But all my calling added nothing but to (their) flight (from the truth). 6 And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance. 7 Then I called them openly, 8 and preached to them in public, and also addressed them in secret. 9 "I said (to them): 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 "'He will send rain to you in abundance; 11 and give to you wealth and sons, and provide you with gardens and rivers. 12 What aileth you that ye expect not in Allah majesty! 13 when He has created you through different stages of existence? 14 See ye not how Allah hath created seven heavens in harmony, 15 "'And made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp? 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 and to it He will return you. Then, He will bring you forth. 18 And Allah hath made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 That you may go along therein in wide paths. 20
