Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Surely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement. 1 He said: O my people! Lo! I am a plain warner unto you 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 He said: my Lord! Verily I have called my people night and day. 5 But my invitation increased them not except in flight. 6 And whenever I have called them that Thou mayest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, cover themselves with their garments, and persist and are puffed up with pride: 7 "And behold I called unto them openly; 8 And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. 9 I said to them: “Ask forgiveness from your Lord; surely He is Most Forgiving. 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 And will help you with wealth and sons, and will assign unto you Gardens and will assign unto you rivers. 12 What is the matter with you that you do not want the Greatness of Allah, 13 when He has created you through different stages of existence? 14 Behold ye not in what wise Allah hath created seven heavens in storeys. 15 And has placed the moon therein, an illumination, and has placed the sun, a lighted lamp? 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 Afterwards He will return you into it (the earth), and bring you forth (again on the Day of Resurrection)? 18 And Allah has made for you the earth a wide expanse, 19 so that you may tread its spacious paths.” 20
