Noah (Nooh)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Bee (Al-nahl) before Abraham (Ibrahim)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 He said: O my people! Lo! I am a plain warner unto you 2 “That you must worship Allah and fear Him, and obey me.” 3 “He will forgive you some of your sins, and give you respite up to an appointed term; indeed the promise of Allah cannot be averted when it arrives; if only you knew.” 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 But my call has only made them flee the more: 6 Every time I have called to them, so that You might forgive them, they have only thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 Then surely I called to them aloud: 8 “Then I also told them publicly and also spoke to them softly in private.” 9 Then I said, "Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Surely He is the most forgiving. 10 He will send the heaven upon you copiously; 11 And will help you with wealth and sons, and will assign unto you Gardens and will assign unto you rivers. 12 ‘What is the matter with you, that you do not desire honour from Allah?’ 13 "'Seeing that it is He that has created you in diverse stages? 14 Have you not seen how Allah created the seven heavens one above the other, 15 And hath placed the moon therein for a light, and hath made the sun a lamp? 16 how God has produced you from the earth and caused you to grow, 17 He will make you return to it and then take you out of it again. 18 "'And Allah has made the earth for you as a carpet (spread out), 19 That you may go about therein in broad roads. 20
